Citizen Police Academy
WHAT IS THE CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY?

The Grandville Police Department Citizen Police Academy has been established to continue the positive movement in the relationships between the citizens of Grandville and their Police Department.
WHO MAY ATTEND THE CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY?
The academy is open to citizens of the City of Grandville, 21 years of age and older. The Academy requires a routine background check and a waiver of liability. the academy will be held one night each week for 3 hours and run for 6 weeks. The Chief, upon review, may modify a requirement for cause.
IS THERE A COST?
There is no cost for this program and all supplies will be furnished to the participants. Your attendance is your Investment.
WHEN? WHERE?
The next academy will be starting soon & space is limited. The academy will run for 6 consecutive weeks and all sessions are held at the Kent District Library Grandville Branch Community Room, 4055 Maple St. SW Grandville, MI 49418

WHAT IS THE CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY?

The Grandville Police Department Citizen Police Academy has been established to continue the positive movement in the relationships between the citizens of Grandville and their Police Department.
The goal is to develop and enhance citizen awareness and understanding of the police role in the community.
Through this growing nucleus of responsible and well informed citizens, the challenges, practices, and myths about law enforcement will be brought into focus.
Through these cooperative efforts, all involved will be able to make the City of Grandville an even greater place to live and work.
WHAT WILL THE ACADEMY COVER?
The Academy is set up to be primarily informational. No testing will take place. Topics covered will mirror those mandated for police recruits in traditional academies across the state. The scope will be reduced to be a proper fit for this informational overview. There will be no law enforcement powers granted through this program.
