Fire Prevention Programs & Safety Information

In an ongoing effort to reduce the number and severity of fire losses in our community, we participate in a number of fire prevention and safety programs. To request a program or more information, call our business office at 616-530-6211.

PROGRAMS INCLUDE:Block, church and school parties
Whenever possible, we are happy to send a fire engine and personnel to these events. We also frequently visit area businesses with trucks and personnel for special days or events.  Please note that we are not able to host or attend private parties.

CPR training
American Heart Association CPR programs are available on request for small, local groups or businesses. Class costs vary, and in most cases are minimal to cover the cost of books and materials.

Home safety checks
Firefighters are available on request to provide free home safety checks for our residents. These checks include creating an exit plan, checking smoke and CO detectors, looking for fire and electrical hazards and other safety concerns.

National Night Out
In conjunction with our Police Department, we participate in this annual event visiting several neighborhoods and parties with our units and personnel.

Open House
Our annual fire prevention open house in held on the Tuesday of Fire Prevention Week every October. This is an immensely popular event and we host hundreds of adults and children each year.

Tours and Programs for Schools and Groups
This is another very popular service that we provide to any class or group. Last year, over 2000 students visited us.

Safe Kids Coalition / Car seat installation and checks
We have trained technicians on staff that are able to provide child car seat installations and checks at no charge to citizens. Please call our offices at 530-6211 to make an appointment. We are not always able to accommodate walk in requests.
