General Information

The Grandville Clean Water Plant serves the communities of Grandville, Georgetown Township, Hudsonville, Jamestown Township, and a portion of Blendon Township. Over 19,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers use, on average, around 6 million gallons of water on a day to day basis.



Once water has been used in these communities, a network of over 300 miles of sanitary sewer lines transport the used water, which is now called wastewater, to the Clean Water Plant. Using physical and biological treatment, the plant cleans the wastewater so it can be returned to nature in a safe manner to protect the watershed environment.

Emergencies And Sewer Back-UpsShould you have an emergency related to wastewater treatment or experience a sewer back-up, please call (616) 538-1990 during the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on weekdays.  All other times of the day or on weekends and holidays call 911.

ToursGroup tours of the plant are available and can be scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 1:30pm, but may be limited by weather, plant construction, staffing requirements or operational conditions.
Tour Guidelines:

• Please allow 2 weeks notice for scheduling.
• Typical walking tours last approximately 1 hour.
• Most areas are outside so please dress weather appropriate.
• Groups should not exceed 40 persons.
• Ages younger than third grade level are not recommended.
• Notify plant personnel of any special accomodations needs at the time of scheduling.

Farmers And GrowersThe City of Grandville has a very fine Bio-Solids Management Plan. The program has proven that bio-solids are a valuable resource when recycled to farm land and could meet much of your fertilizer needs. Hunting And FishingThe City of Grandville Clean Water Plant is located very near the river and two creeks which provides excellent habitat for waterfowl, deer, rabbits and squirrels, all of which can be seen at different times of the year. However, as the plant grounds are inside the City limits no hunting is allowed. Given the proximity of the plant both Rush and Buck Creeks and with considerable Grand River frontage, the clean water plant is an excellent place to fish.
