Tax and Assessing Information

Payment Information:
For your convenience, Property Tax payments may be made in a variety of ways. Aside from our office hours (8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday), payment is available through our dropboxes (located in the parking lot and on the front of City Hall), as well as online.

  • Payment via Bank Account online
    - Payments made BEFORE 12:00pm will process in 1 day
    - Payments made AFTER 12:00pm will process in 2 days
  • *Payment via Credit or Debit Card online
    *Users paying with credit or debit cards will be charged a fee of 2.95%.
  • *Payment via Credit or Debit Card by phone: call toll-free, (866) 518-2305. Have your parcel number ready when calling.

Summer Tax Bills:
Date statements are mailed: July 1
Final date to receive payment without penalty: August 31**

 

Winter Tax Bills:
Date statements are mailed: December 1
Final date to receive payment without penalty: February 14**

**Payment must be received at the lockbox, Treasurer's Office, or City Hall dropbox by 5:00 pm on the due date; postmarks cannot be accepted as date of payment.

For Summer Tax Bills paid after August 31, a 4% penalty must be assessed regardless of the circumstance. An additional 1/2% will be added at the 1st of each month thereafter.

For Winter Tax Bills paid after February 14, a 3% penalty must be assessed regardless of the circumstances.

Delinquent Tax Bills:
The City is unable to process delinquent payments real property past February 28. Contact the Kent County Treasurer's office to arrange payment for delinquent taxes at (616) 632-7500. Delinquent personal property payments are collected by the City; call 616-530-4972 for payment information.
