Welcome to the Grandville Police Department Web Page. The
Grandville Police Department serves a population of slightly over
16,000 people. There are not many remaining areas of the city
suitable for residential development, so the population is not
anticipated to increase significantly. Grandville has long been
known as a wonderful place in which to live, work, and raise a
family. The city is well known for its many excellent schools and
churches, and downtown business area.
For many years, the Grandville Police Department operated with
between 18 and 22 officers in its effort to provide police
protection to the community. The City of Grandville has enjoyed a
reputation for being a city with a very low crime rate that provided
residents with a high quality of life.
Since 1999, the City of Grandville has
undergone tremendous changes. Extensive commercial growth in the
south end includes the Rivertown Crossings Mall, one of the largest
malls in the state. The area around the mall now includes many new
fine restaurants and other new businesses. The mall and other new
businesses have made Grandville one of the top attractions in West
Michigan. Each year, over 14 million people visit the mall alone
with many more people visiting the other area businesses.
The Grandville Police Department has grown to 28 officers in
response to these changes in the city. The department’s goal
throughout this growth process has been to maintain the high quality
personal and professional service to the residents of the
neighborhoods and still be able to respond to the greatly increased
demands caused by the tremendous commercial growth. Even with the
increased staffing of the department, accomplishing this goal was a
monumental task. Only through partnering with neighborhoods,
businesses, and the schools has this goal been accomplished.
The members of the Grandville Police Department understand that
they exist to serve the community. With this in mind, they have
worked during the past year to re-think such things as their
mission, vision, and values and have established new goals and
procedures with which to move forward.
