Court Clerk

Part-Time Position

 

The 59th District Court, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is posting a part-time position of Court Clerk in our Walker location.  The person selected for this position will report to the Court Administrator.

 

General Summary of Duties:

The part-time court clerk performs a variety of tasks to assist in the processing of traffic, civil, and criminal cases.  The majority of the work involves traffic and parking matters.  The person selected for this position will be expected to answer phones and provide counter service, including receiving and receipting money and providing assistance on court matters with attorneys, law enforcement officers, and the public.  Additional tasks performed by the part-time court clerk include regularly retrieving and replacing case files and conducting file searches.  The part-time court clerk also types a variety of court documents, enters case information into the computer system, files paperwork and performs a variety of related tasks.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Proficient in typing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office technology and other computer systems
  • Aptitude for math concepts, calculations and corresponding spreadsheets
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including cash registers and copy machines

 

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in an office environment
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
  • Experience in providing positive customer service
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish and English) would be helpful

 

Days/Hours:

  • Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Flexibility for additional hours will be needed occasionally for jury trials and office coverage

 

Wage:  From $10.50 to $12.82 per hour depending on experience
