Activities and Programs

In an ongoing effort to reduce the number and severity of fire losses in our community we participate in a number of fire prevention and safety programs. To request a program or more information, contact our business office by phone at (616) 530-6211 or send an e-mail or click here for a PDF form.

Block, Church and School Parties

Block PartyWhenever possible, we are happy to send a fire engine and personnel to these events. We also frequently visit area businesses with trucks and personnel for special days or events.

Home Safety Checks

Firefighters are available on request to provide free home safety checks for our residents. These checks include creating an exit plan, checking smoke and CO detectors, looking for fire and electrical hazards and other safety concerns.

National Night Out

In conjunction with our community policing unit, we participate in this annual event visiting several neighborhoods and parties with our units and personnel.

School Tours and Programs

This is another very popular service that we provide to any class. Last year, over 2000 students visited us.

Safe Kids Coalition / Car Seat Installation and Checks

Child safety seat installations/inspections are available by appointment only.  You may schedule an appointment by calling the Fire office at 530-6211.  There is no charge for the inspections.  Child safety seats are not given away.  If certain requirements are met, they may be available at a reduced cost through Greater Grand Rapids Safe Kids Coalition.  Call 391-7233 for more information.

This interactive web site for kids includes games and activities to teach and reinforce fire safety. Kids of all ages can earn and print their own Jr. Fire Marshal Certification!
