Downtown Development Authority
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (DDA) is responsible for the
planning and implementation of economic development, historic
preservation and prevention of deterioration in the downtown
business district. The DDA was established in 1984 in accordance with
Michigan State Law, Public Act No. 197 of 1975.
The
DDA is responsible for maintaining and making physical improvements
within the designated district.
The DDA’s district is generally located downtown and along
the 28th Street and Chicago Drive corridors (DDA District
Map). The DDA is
governed by a nine member board which is appointed by the City
Council. The
majority of DDA board members are business and property owners from
within the district. The
DDA is funded only with tax increments which have been
generated within the district since1984.
Since its creation the DDA has been
been involved in over 21 projects
with an approximate investment value of over $3.7 million.
These projects include:

parking lot improvement projects
- Property
acquisition and redevelopment projects
- Landscaping
projects
- Façade
improvement program
- Landscaping
maintenance
- Farmer’s
Market
- Pedestrian
Improvements
- Public

the second Thursday of the month at 8:00 AM at City Hall.
