CITY OF GRANDVILLE

REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2012

 

The Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of April 9, 2012 was called to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:00 pm.

 

Present were Council Members Randal Gelderloos, Steve Kauffman, Steve Maas, Joshua Meringa, Carole Pettijohn, and Mayor James Buck.  Absent:  Council Member Dick Richards

 

Also attending:  Tammy Hopman, Treasurer/ Finance Director; Randy Kraker, City Attorney; Ken Krombeen, City Manager; Mike May, Fire Chief; Mary Meines, City Clerk; Dennis Santo, Police Chief; and Dan Steere, Deputy Police Chief.

 

Council Member Pettijohn gave the invocation; and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Meringa, to approve the April 9, 2012 agenda. The motion was APPROVED.

 

Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member Gelderloos, to waive the reading and approve as presented the minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 26, 2012.  The motion was APPROVED.   

 

Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member Maas, that bills for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 totaling $86,244.34 as presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the Treasurer to pay the same. Motion APPROVED by unanimous roll call vote.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

No public comment.

 

CONSENT AGENDA

Items presented under the Consent Agenda included:

1.      Reports:     CWP (February), Treasurer’s (March)

2.      Minutes:    Historical Commission (March 19)

3.      Set Public Hearing on FY 2012-2013 Budget (May 14, 2012 @ 7:00 pm)

4.      Appointment:  Deputy Clerk – Laura Roebuck

 

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Pettijohn, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.  The motion was APPROVED.

 

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

City Manager Krombeen presented the third component (employee compensation plan) necessary to qualify for the Economic Vitality Incentive Plan (EVIP) funds formerly known as statutory state revenue sharing.  Grandville remains eligible to receive $35,000 this year.  The first two components (dashboard, collaboration plan) were completed earlier in the year and the last component is due to be submitted to the Michigan Department of Treasury by May 1st.  Discussion on the DRAFT Employee Compensation Plan.  A revised plan will be provided to Council at the meeting on April 23.

 

Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member Meringa, to excuse the absence of Council Member Richards.  The motion was APPROVED.

ADJOURN TO EXECUTIVE SESSION

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Meringa, to adjourn at 8:09 pm.  The motion was APPROVED.
