CITY OF GRANDVILLE
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, MARCH 12, 2012
The
Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of March 12, 2012 was called
to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:00 pm.
Present were Council Members Steve Maas, Joshua Meringa, Carole
Pettijohn, Dick Richards and Mayor James Buck. Absent: Council
Member Randy Gelderloos.
Also
attending: Matthew Butts, Assistant City Manager; Tammy Hopman,
Treasurer/Finance Director; Randy Kraker, City Attorney; Ken
Krombeen, City Manager; Mike May, Fire Chief; Marci Poley, Acting
Clerk; and Dennis Santo, Police Chief.
Pastor Doug Wood, Grace Bible Church, gave the invocation; and was
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Richards, to approve the March 12, 2012 agenda as presented. The
motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Richards, to waive the reading and approve the minutes of the
Regular Meeting of February 27, 2012. The motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn, that bills for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 totaling $143,839.30
as presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. Motion APPROVED by unanimous roll call
vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Chad
Stoub, owner of Everkept Disposal, Inc., came before Council to
speak about the proposed amendments to the Kent County Solid Waste
Management Plan.
PUBLIC HEARING
Mayor
Buck opened the public hearing at 7:15 pm to receive public comment
on vacating an alleyway located south of Crystal Street and north of
30th Street, running east and west between Earle and
Sanford Avenue.
The
Property owner of 2958 Sanford Ave., was in attendance and asked if
vacating the alley would have any impact on property values. City
Manager Krombeen responded that there would be little to no impact.
Michael Schamper, 3610 Crystal St., asked about utilities located in
the alleyway. City Manager Krombeen confirmed that there are no
public utilities located in the alleyway.
The
Public Hearing closed at 7:23 pm.
ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTIONS
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn to approve Resolution No. 2985, vacating the alleyway
located south of Crystal Street and north of 30th Street,
running east and west between Earle and Sanford Avenue. Motion
APPROVED by unanimous roll call vote.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Meringa, to excuse the absence of Council Member Gelderloos. The
motion was APPROVED.

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Meringa, to adjourn at 8:01 pm. The motion was APPROVED.
