CITY OF GRANDVILLE
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2011
The
Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of October 10, 2011 was
called to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:00 pm.
Present were Council Members Randal Gelderloos, Steve Kauffman,
Steve Maas, Joshua Meringa, Carole Pettijohn, Dick Richards and
Mayor James Buck. Absent: None
Also
attending: Matthew Butts, Assistant City Manager; Ron Carr, DPW
Director; Tammy Hopman, Finance Director; Randy Kraker, City
Attorney; Ken Krombeen, City Manager; Mary Meines, City Clerk;
Dennis Santo, Police Chief; and Dan Steere, Deputy Police Chief.
Rev.
Greg Brower, Zion Reformed Church, delivered the invocation; and was
followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Richards, to approve the October 10, 2011 amended agenda as
presented. The motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Meringa, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting
of September 26, 2011 and to approve as presented. The motion was
APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn, that bills for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 totaling $535,393.61
as presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a
roll call vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Kathy
Reister, introduced her exchange student from Kazakhstan.
Russ
Ripma, expressed sympathy to the family of Judi DeMink, Director of
the Grandville Senior Neighbors. He also reminded Council of the
Senior Neighbors Family Fun Night on October 18.

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Meringa, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented in the best
interest of the City. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a roll
call vote.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
Chief
Santo gave a brief overview of the background of the Police-School
Liaison Officer with the Grandville Public Schools. Motion made by
Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Richards, to
authorize a Police-School Liaison Officer Agreement between the City
of Grandville and the Grandville Public Schools effective July 1,
2011 thru June 30, 2014. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by
roll call vote.
Finance Director Hopman gave a presentation of Grandville’s
Performance Dashboard and Citizen Guide.

Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn, to adjourn at 8:05 pm. The motion was APPROVED.
