CITY OF GRANDVILLE
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, AUGUST 8, 2011
The
Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of August 8, 2011 was called
to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:00 pm.
Present were Council Members Randal Gelderloos, Steve Kauffman,
Joshua Meringa, Carole Pettijohn, and Mayor James Buck. Absent:
Council Member Steve Maas and Dick Richards.
Also
attending: Matthew Butts, Assistant City Manager; Ron Carr, DPW
Director; Tammy Hopman, Finance Director; Randy Kraker, City
Attorney; Ken Krombeen, City Manager; Mary Meines, City Clerk; and
Dan Steere, Deputy Police Chief.
Rev.
Dan Mouw, South Grandville Chr. Ref. Church, delivered the
invocation; and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Meringa, to approve the August 8, 2011 agenda as presented. The
motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Kauffman, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting
of July 25, 2011 and to approve as presented. The motion was
APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Gelderloos, that bills for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 totaling $97,728.74
as presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a
roll call vote.
Motion made by Council Member Gelderloos, supported by Council
Member Kauffman, that bills for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 totaling
$326,507.16 as presented by the City Manager, be allowed and
authorize the Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously
APPROVED by a roll call vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Mike
Cobb, 3362 40th St, addressed comments made at previous
Council meetings.
Tomas
Kosmak, 3223 Chestnut, commented on the ITP millage and the petition
to withdraw from the Partnership.
Representative Dave Agema, 3299 Tomahawk, shared information re:
mass transportation issues. He also indicated there is legislation
in the process to regulate the mixed martial arts sporting events to
help protect the fighters from serious injuries.
Russ
Ripma, 3965 Johnson Lane, spoke on behalf of the Senior Neighbors
Center. He expressed appreciation to the City for supporting the
Center.
Steve
Reed, 2429 Elmridge NW, Walker, feels cities are in a partnership (ITP)
that the voters do not want to be involved in.

Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Gelderloos, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented in the best
interest of the City. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a roll
call vote.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Kauffman, to excuse the absence of Council Members Maas and
Richards. The motion was APPROVED.
