CITY OF GRANDVILLE

REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2010

The Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of November 22, 2010 was called to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:00 pm.

Present were Council Members Randal Gelderloos, Steve Kauffman, Steve Maas, Joshua Meringa, Carole Pettijohn, Dick Richards, and Mayor James Buck.   Absent:  None

Also attending:  Matt Butts, Assistant City Manager; Tammy Hopman, Treasurer/Finance Director; Randy Kraker, City Attorney; Kenneth Krombeen, City Manager; Mike May, Fire Lieutenant; Mary Meines, City Clerk; Dennis Santo, Police Chief; Dan Steere, Deputy Police Chief; and Todd Wibright, CWP Superintendent.

Rev. Dan Mouw, South Grandville Christian Reformed Church, gave the invocation; and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Meringa, to approve the November 22, 2010 agenda including adjournment to Executive Session for purposes of discussing pending litigation. The motion was APPROVED.

Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member Richards, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting of November 8, 2010 and approve as presented.  The motion was APPROVED.

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Gelderloos, that bills for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 totaling $657,621.45 as presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by roll call vote.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Amy Rottman and Stephen Blann from Rehmann Robson gave a presentation on the annual audit for FY ending June 30, 2010.  Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Pettijohn, to accept the 2009/2010 Annual Audit.  The motion was APPROVED.

CONSENT AGENDA

Items presented under the Consent Agenda included:

1. Reports:  Police (3^rd Quarter), CWP (October), Investments (October)

2. Minutes:    Library Board (October 28)

Park and Recreation (October 28)

Downtown Development Authority (November 11)

3. Miscellaneous Purchase Orders and Requests:

a.   CWP:  Data Management Software – AllMax Software - $8,725.00

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Richards, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented in the best interest of the City.  The motion was unanimously APPROVED by roll call vote.

COUNCIL COMMENTS

·         Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on December 6, 2010 at 7:00 pm

·         Speed limit on 44^th Street between Ivanrest and Spartan Industrial

·         Tailgater Restaurant

·         Council Member Kauffman read a statement re: his time on the City Council

·         Happy Thanksgiving

·         Grandville/Jenison Chamber of Commerce breakfast on November 12

·         Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year nominations are due November 30

·         Santa and his reindeer will be at the Grandville Library on December 9 @ 6:30 pm

·         Holiday Salesman Sample Sale at Grandville Library December 2-4

·         Friends of Library Book Sale - December 2

·         Thanks to DPW employees for cooperation re: the labor contract

·         Summer Recreation Report

·         New format of tax bills

ADJOURNMENT

Motion made by Council Member Richards, supported by Council Member Gelderloos, to adjourn at 7:45 pm to Executive Session for the purpose of discussion of pending litigation.  The motion was unanimously APPROVED by roll call vote.
