CITY OF GRANDVILLE
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2010
The
Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of September 27, 2010 was
called to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:05 pm.
Present were Council Members Randal Gelderloos, Steve Kauffman,
Steve Maas, Joshua Meringa, Carole Pettijohn, Dick Richards and
Mayor James Buck. Absent: None
Also
attending: Matthew Butts, Assistant City Manager; Randy Kraker,
City Attorney; Tammy Hopman, Treasurer/Finance Director; Kenneth
Krombeen, City Manager; Mike May, Fire Lieutenant; Mary Meines, City
Clerk; and Dennis Santo, Police Chief.
Rev.
David Crompton, Grandville Baptist Church, gave the invocation; and
was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Richards, to approve the September 27, 2010 agenda as presented. The
motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Gelderloos, supported by Council
Member Kauffman, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular
Meeting of September 13, 2010 and approve as presented. The motion
was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Maas, that bills for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 totaling $605,514.03 as
presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by
roll call vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Emily Walker, Shannon Gowen, and Lisa Shans addressed City Council
relative to the MDA Fill the Boot campaign.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Gelderloos, to remove from the table Ordinance No. 284, adding
Sections 15-70 and 15-71 to the Code of Ordinances. The motion was
APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Richards, to approve Ordinance No. 284, adding Sections 15-70 and
15-71 to the Code of Ordinances. The motion was unanimously
APPROVED by roll call vote. The Ordinance creates a Civil
Infraction mechanism for less serious child neglect matters and to
hold parents or individuals accountable for the actions of minors
involved in underage use of drugs and/or alcohol.

Motion made by Council Member Gelderloos, supported by Council
Member Maas, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. The motion
was APPROVED.

Marihuana Act in Your Community, Complete Streets; General Session
speakers; EOA meeting; Grand Haven’s award. Council Members that
attended thanked the City for the opportunity to attend the
Convention

ADJOURNMENT
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Richards, to adjourn at 7:55 pm. The motion was APPROVED.
