CITY OF GRANDVILLE
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2009
The
Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of August 24, 2009 was
called to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:00 pm.
The
City Clerk called the roll. Present were Council Members Ken Gates,
Randal Gelderloos, Steve Maas, Joshua Meringa, Carole Pettijohn,
Dick Richards and Mayor James Buck. Absent: None
Also
attending: Tammy Aue, Treasurer/Finance Director; Randy Kraker,
City Attorney; Mary Meines, City Clerk; and Dennis Santo, Police
Chief.
Council Member Meringa gave the invocation; and was followed by the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Gelderloos, to approve the August 24, 2009 agenda as presented. The
motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Meringa, supported by Council Member
Richards, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting
of August 10, 2009 and to approve as presented. The motion was
APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Gates, that Fiscal Year 2008-2009 bills totaling $12,571.99 as
presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by
roll call vote.
Motion made by Council Member Gates, supported by Council Member
Maas, that Fiscal Year 2009-2010 bills totaling $690,752.03 as
presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by
roll call vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT
A
presentation of the 2008 Kent District Library Annual Report was
made by Martha Smart, Director of KDL. Patrice Vrona, Grandville
Branch Manager, gave an update of the 2008 activity at the
Grandville Library. Scott Petersen, KDL Representative for Byron
Township and City of Grandville; and Jean Iwema, Friends of the
Grandville Library, were in attendance.
Steve
Kauffman, 3654 Ivanrest, informed Council of the Clean Energy
Townhall Meeting on September 1 at 7 pm at the Donnelly Center.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Richards, to remove from the table Zoning Ordinance No. 204-CC. The
motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Richards, to approve Zoning Ordinance No. 204-CC, amending Ordinance
No. 204-AS, as amended by Ordinance Nos. 204-BM, 204-BV and 204-BX,
modifying the Parkway Place Planned Unit Development. The motion
was unanimously APPROVED by roll call vote.
COUNCIL COMMUNICATIONS OR PETITIONS
Communication was received from the Michigan Municipal League
regarding designation of voting and alternate delegates to represent
the City of Grandville at the 2009 Michigan Municipal League Annual
Meeting on September 23, 2009 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in
Kalamazoo. Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by
Council Member Maas, to appoint Council Member Gelderloos as the
delegate to vote on behalf of the City of Grandville and to
designate Council Member Meringa as the alternative delegate at the
2009 Michigan Municipal League Annual Meeting. The motion was
APPROVED.

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
