Planning Commission Minutes

The special meeting was called to order by Chairman Nicely, in the Council Chambers at 4:02 p.m.

PRESENT: Virgil Leatherman, Craig Nicely, Bob Poll, Dave Zondervan and Randy Hartgerink

ABSENT: Steve Maas

Jack Bengtson

ALSO PRESENT: Dan Johnson, Assistant City Manager

The purpose of the meeting was to interview three firms for the City’s Master Plan project. The Planning Commission individually interviewed LSL Planning, McKenna Associates, and Beckett and Raeder.

Paul LeBlanc and Val Lazdins presented for LSL Planning.

Catherine Kaufmann and Greg Milliken presented for McKenna Associates.

John Iacoangeli presented for Beckett and Raeder.

All firms gave a brief overview of their firm and then answered questions from the Planning Commission. Each interview lasted no longer than 30 minutes.

After all three interviews were conducted the Commission agreed that McKenna Associates could be eliminated. The preferred firm was LSL, however, their fee was significantly higher than Beckett and Raeder’s and what was budgeted. Staff was directed to work with LSL to see if the costs could be reduced.

Motion by Poll, supported by Zondervan to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
