Planning Commission Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Nicely, in the Council Chambers at 5:31 p.m.  

PRESENT:                Jodie Sherman, Craig Nicely, Randy Hartgerink, Bob Poll, Dave Zondervan, and Virgil Leatherman  

ABSENT:                   Steve Maas  

ALSO PRESENT:     Ken Krombeen, City Manager  

Motion by Zondervan, seconded by Sherman to approve the agenda as presented.  The motion passed unanimously.  

NEW BUSINESS:  

1.         Site Plan Review – O’Mara Products – 3080 30th Street SW  

Ken Krombeen noted that the applicant received a variance for a reduced front yard setback. 

The applicant asked the Planning Commission to approve reduced parking setbacks.  If approved the applicant will use landscaping and berming to mitigate the reduction.   

Bob Poll suggested the landscaping be irrigated.  

Jodi Sherman requested to see the building elevations.  She questioned the new building setbacks in relationship to the exiting building to the south.  

Randy Hartgerink asked for clarification on the plat restriction setback requirements and the variance that was approved.  Ken Krombeen explained that the variance from the ZBA got the applicant a waiver to the city set back requirements but did not address the plat restrictions.  

Motion by Poll, supported by Hartgerink to approve the site plan review for 3080 30th Street, O’Mara Products, with the following conditions 1) Separate sign permit required for site signage  2) Final utility connections are subject to Department of Public Works and City Engineer approval 3) The green areas are irrigated.  The motion passed unanimously.  

PUBLIC COMMENT  

Chairman Nicely asked if there were any public comments to be made.  There were none.  

OTHER BUSINESS  

Chairman Nicely asked if there was any other business to discuss.  There was none.  

Motion by Zondervan, supported by Poll to adjourn.  The motion passed unanimously.  The meeting adjourned at 5:43 p.m.
