CITY OF GRANDVILLE

REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING

MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2007

 

The Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of June 11, 2007 was called to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:05 pm.

 

The City Clerk called the roll.  Present were Council Members Ken Gates, Randal Gelderloos, Steve Maas, Carole Pettijohn, Joe Sierawski and Mayor James Buck.  Absent:  Council Member Stan Ponstein.

 

Also attending:  Tammy Butler, Assistant Finance Director; Matthew Butts, Assistant to the City Manager; Gene Alkema, City Attorney; Ken Krombeen, City Manager; Mary Meines, City Clerk; and Dennis Santo, Deputy Police Chief,

 

Rev. Greg Brower from Zion Reformed Church gave the invocation; and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Gates, to approve the June 11, 2007 agenda as provided. The motion was APPROVED.

 

Motion made by Council Member Sierawski, supported by Council Member Maas, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting of May 21, 2007 and to approve as presented. The motion was APPROVED.

 

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Pettijohn, that Fiscal Year 2006-2007 bills totaling $369,396.00 presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by roll call vote.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT

Steve Kauffman, 3654 Ivanrest, announced candidacy for the City Council.

 

Mike Cobb, 3362 40th St., commented on the ITP millage increase, revenue sharing, letter in the Advance regarding the downtown streetscape plan, condition of the roads, and thanked Council for serving.

 

CONSENT AGENDA

Items presented under the Consent Agenda included:

 

1.   Reports:     Police (Quarterly), Fire/EMS (May), Treasurer’s (May)

2.   Minutes:     Park and Recreation (April 19)

3.   Appointment:    Kent County Dispatch Authority - Randal Gelderloos

4.   Proclamation:    National Flag Day

 

3.   Miscellaneous Purchase Orders and Requests:

a.   Court/Probation:     Laptops with hardware (3)

CDWG - $3,588.62 (Court)

CDWG - $2,317.31 (Probation)

b.   Police:     Radar Unit

Kustom Signals - $2,600.00

 

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Pettijohn, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented in the best interest of the City. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a roll call vote.

 

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

Motion made by Council Member Gates, supported by Council Member Gelderloos, to excuse the absence of Council Member Ponstein.  The motion was APPROVED.

 

COMMENTS

Comments were made regarding:

·        Click It or Ticket It Program

·        Potholes

·        Growing Community Conference on June 14 at the Calvin College Prince Center

·        4th of July Celebration

·        Mayor’s absence on June 25

 

ADJOURNMENT

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member Gates, to adjourn at 7:28 pm. The motion was APPROVED.
