CITY OF GRANDVILLE
REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MONDAY, MAY 14, 2007
The
Grandville City Council Regular Meeting of May 14, 2007 was called
to order by Mayor James Buck at 7:03 pm.
The
City Clerk called the roll. Present were Council Members Ken Gates,
Randal Gelderloos, Steve Maas, Carole Pettijohn, Stan Ponstein, Joe
Sierawski and Mayor James Buck. Absent: None.
Also
attending: Tammy Butler, Assistant Finance Director; Matthew Butts,
Assistant to the City Manager; Ron Carr, DPW Director; Thomas
Guinther, Treasurer/Finance Director; Randy Kraker, City Attorney;
Ken Krombeen, City Manager; Mary Meines, City Clerk; Dennis Santo,
Deputy Police Chief; and Todd Wibright, Clean Water Plant
Superintendent.
Council Member Pettijohn gave the invocation; and was followed by
the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn, to approve the May 14, 2007 agenda as provided. The
motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Sierawski, supported by Council Member
Maas, to waive the reading of the minutes of the Regular Meeting of
April 23, 2007 and to approve as presented. The motion was APPROVED.
Motion made by Council Member Gates, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn, that Fiscal Year 2006-2007 bills totaling $363,015.78
presented by the City Manager, be allowed and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the same. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by
roll call vote.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Bill
Schrader from the American Legion Neal Fonger Post #179 presented
the schedule for the Memorial Day Ceremonies on Monday, May 28,
2007. The ceremonies will begin with the flag raising at 9:00 am at
Wedgwood Park and a procession to the cemetery beginning at
approximately 9:15 am.
Dave
Agema, 74th District House Representative, was in attendance to
update Council on activities in Lansing.
PUBLIC HEARING
Mayor
Buck opened the public hearing on FY 2007-2008 Budget at 7:32 pm.
Treasurer/Finance Director Guinther summarized the budget process
and discussed some specific areas of the budget. He indicated the
City received an increase in wholesale water rates from the City of
Wyoming and it will be necessary to pass the increase on the City of
Grandville customers. Mr. Guinther reviewed the Capital Plan and
the General Fund changes. Mike Cobb, 3362 40th St., asked what the
water cost increase from Wyoming is for and if we knew it was
coming. Mayor Buck closed the public hearing at 8:14 pm.

Denise McIntyre from allies for
Greyhounds of West Michigan addressed Council regarding the
Charitable Gaming License request.
Motion made by Council Member Gates, supported by Council Member
Maas, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented in the best
interest of the City. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a roll
call vote.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
Motion made by Council Member Pettijohn, supported by Council Member
Maas, to authorize the purchase of a colorgard snow retention system
on the police/court building and City Hall from Metal Tech in the
amount of $22,708 in the best interest of the City. The motion was
unanimously APPROVED by a roll call vote.
Motion made by Council Member Gates, supported by Council Member
Pettijohn, to authorize the purchase of air blenders in City Hall
HVAC system from Quality Air in the amount of $4,470.00 in the best
interest of the City. The motion was unanimously APPROVED by a roll
call vote.

Motion made by Council Member Maas, supported by Council Member
Gates, to adjourn at 8:46 pm. The motion was APPROVED.
