PROCEEDINGS OF THE
GRANDVILLE CITY COUNCIL
Regular session, July 8, 2002, in the Council
Chambers at 7:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor James
Buck.
The City Clerk called the roll. Present were
Council Members Robert DeWitt (arrived at 7:39 p.m.), Ken Gates,
Steve Maas, Carole Pettijohn, Stan Ponstein, Joe Sierawski, and
Mayor Buck.
Absent: None

Tom Guinther, Treasurer/Finance Director
Dan Johnson, Assistant City Manager
Ken Krombeen, City Manager (arrived at 7:30 p.m.)
Mary Meines, City Clerk
Dick Meyers, WWTP Superintendent

Harvey Veldhouse, Fire Chief
The invocation was given by Council Member Steve
Maas, and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Moved by Council Member Maas and seconded by
Council Member Gates, CARRIED, to approve the July 8, 2002 agenda as
presented.
Moved by Council Member Gates and seconded by
Council Member Pettijohn, CARRIED, to waive the reading of the
minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 24, 2002, and approve as
presented.
Moved by Council Member Sierawski and seconded by
Council Member Maas, CARRIED unanimously by roll call vote, that
bills totaling $194,451.49 for Fiscal Year 2001-2002 as presented by
the City Manager, be allowed and the Treasurer authorized to pay the
same.
Moved by Council Member Gates and seconded by
Council Member Maas, CARRIED unanimously by roll call vote, that
bills totaling $65,735.68 for Fiscal Year 2002-2003 as presented by
the City Manager, be allowed and the Treasurer authorized to pay the
same.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Wayne Kuipers, introduced himself as a candidate
for the 30th District State Senate seat. He currently
serves on the House of Representatives.
Judy Baxter, a candidate for the 17th
Circuit Court Judge position, introduced herself to the City
Council.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
Moved by Council Member Gates and seconded by
Council Member Maas, CARRIED, to remove from the table proposed
Ordinance No. 204-AU.
Moved by Council Member Maas, and seconded by
Council Member Gates, CARRIED unanimously by roll call vote, to
adopt Ordinance No. 204-AU, an ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 204,
the Zoning Ordinance of 1994, by amending Section 14-17.B.4; Section
2-2; Section 12-3.E; Section 16-2.A and Section 16-3.A.9.
Moved by Council Member Gates and seconded by
Council Member Sierawski, CARRIED unanimously by roll call vote, to
approve Resolution No. 2554, a Resolution to Change the Water
Consumption Rates per 1,000 Gallons.
Moved by Council Member Gates and seconded by
Council Member Maas, CARRIED unanimously by roll call vote, to
approve Resolution No. 2555, a Resolution to Accept John Brewer
Drive into the City of Grandville Local Street System.

Council Member De Witt arrived.
Moved by Council Member Maas and seconded by
Council Member Gates, CARRIED unanimously by roll call vote, to
approve the Consent Agenda as presented, with the purchases in the
best interest of the City.
COUNCIL MEMBERS COMMENTS
Comments were made relative to the success of 4th
of July Celebration; congratulations were extended to Tom Guinther
for receiving the Certified Municipal Finance Administrator
Certification; and the timetable of the Canal Avenue project was
given.
ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Council Member Maas and seconded by
Council Member Sierawski, CARRIED, to adjourn at 7:45 p.m.
